Appliance Service Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Appliance Service Technician to join a reputable and well established Berkshire company. Our client is willing to consider a range of experience levels. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of appliance components and troubleshooting, as well as the ability to repair a wide range of residential appliances including washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, microwaves, and refrigeration units. The technician will be expected to work throughout Berkshire County and will receive formal training during employment. Pay will be based on experience level.Â
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, microwaves, and residential refrigeration units.
- Visually inspect appliances to identify issues such as unusual noises, excessive vibrations, fluid leaks, and loose parts.
- Use service manuals, troubleshooting guides, and hands-on experience to diagnose and repair complex issues.
- Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Use testing devices like amp meters, volt meters, and watt meters to check electrical systems for faults.
- Perform appliance repairs that involve electronic components such as circuit boards and sensors.
- Install and troubleshoot various appliances, ensuring proper operation and functionality.
- Connect water and gas lines, and use common hand tools, soldering guns, and brazing torches when necessary.
- Repair refrigeration systems and provide correct diagnostics for refrigerators and air-conditioning units.
- Instruct customers on proper appliance operation and maintenance.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and complies with regulations, including the handling, recovery, and recycling of CFC and HCFC refrigerants.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong knowledge of appliances, electrical systems, and refrigeration principles.
- Experience using common hand tools, soldering guns, and brazing torches.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- CORI/security check and drug testing required prior to hire.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in appliance repair is a plus.
- Formal technical training or certification in appliance repair is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration repair.
