Job Description

 

We're seeking a Print Product Specialist who will be responsible for pre-press functions. Pre-press work includes creating and pre-flighting complex electronic files and making proofs according to company specifications and quality criteria. Extensive knowledge of all equipment; ability to accurately interpret color corrections; understand color management, imposition and finishing. The position opening is for a split-shift position within the Company prepress team. Hours are 10am-7:30pm

  • Prepare/Layout artwork for required internal and external business needs in Mac Environments.
  • Evaluate Artwork and discuss with production personnel to determine the appropriate methods of Proofing and Printing the final product.
  • Compose Artwork.
  • Technical understanding of Lithography, and an understanding of Finishing/Mailing.
  • Ability to understand and interpret all Digital Files
  • Proof Generation, either Electronic or Analog, the ability to send proofs in all formats.
  • Artwork Modifications
  • Communicate and Emphasize care in areas where customer deems critical.
  • Ripping files produced from static and variable data files using digital print equipment and large format inkjet printer.
  • Perform device-link color calibration to meet expectations for color quality target.
  • Reviewing all proofs and final product samples produced on digital equipment before releasing to internal or external customers.
  • Conduct regular and special maintenance on equipment to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations.
  • Knowledge of Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark, Acrobat, Excel and Word.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years’ experience and/or training with computers and print production (litho or prepress); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to establish identity and US work authorized.
  • Must be willing to learn and apply new software programs. Must have working knowledge and understanding of color theory, imposition and printing.
  • Should be able to troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions. Must possess a mechanical aptitude and dexterity
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with the ability to multi-task and follow instructions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to approximately 15 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee may have to walk through a manufacturing facility and/or up or down stairs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
